Today, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is engaging athletes, National and Regional Anti-Doping Organizations, Sports Federations, Governments, Major Event Organizers and all anti-doping stakeholders around the world to celebrate Play True Day 2026.
Under the theme "Play True. It Starts with You." this year's digital campaign reaffirms that protecting the integrity of sport is a shared responsibility, one that begins with the everyday choices of every individual in the sporting community.
WADA President Witold Bańka said: “Today, we celebrate the collective commitment of athletes worldwide who choose to compete clean. I would also like to thank the global anti-doping community for their engagement in today’s celebration and for their everyday commitment to our global collaborative movement for doping-free sport. Play True Day is a reminder that clean sport starts with each of us. By choosing to Play True, we protect fair competition for athletes everywhere.”

A Global Movement for Clean Sport
Since 2014, Play True Day has evolved into a global movement reaching millions each year, uniting the anti-doping community to drive awareness and action for clean sport.
This year's celebration follows WADA’s #PlayTrueChallenge, a 30-second fitness initiative that ran from 17 March to 16 April. We are pleased to say that the challenge was a huge success with participants from across the globe recording themselves completing sport-related movements, sharing their commitment to clean sport on social media and nominating others to take part.
It’s not too late to participate, here’s how…
WADA encourages everyone to show their support for clean sport by:
- Share a post on 17 April to celebrate Play True Day
- Use #PlayTrueDay and tag @wada_ama
- Amplify WADA’s content across your platforms (share and/or like)
For more information, the Play True Day toolkit is available in English, French and Spanish and can be downloaded from WADA’s Play True Day webpage.
